Dhiraj K. Sharma, Ph.D.

Dr. Sharma has over 15 years of extensive experience in several areas of computer technology including databases, networking, and graphics on micro and mini computers. His current and past clients include: Allstate Insurance, AT&T (Bell Labs and Network Systems), Bell Communication Research, CUNA Mutual, Doubleday Books and Music Clubs, JCPenney Financial Services, Scudder Stevens & Clark, Kraft General Foods, Avon Direct, and Mercer.

Prior to becoming a consultant, he did computer science research for eight years at AT&T Bell Labs.

His recent work has been in user-friendly decision support systems that work fast on multi-million record databases. To this end, he built the Fast-Count Database Management System, a customizable, high-speed platform that reduces data volumes by 1/2 to 1/3 and provides comprehensive facilities for analysis, reporting, scoring, name selection, and other similar operations essential to direct marketing.

This system is being made available to clients, service bureaus, and consulting firms jointly by David Shepard Associates and MegaPlex Software, a company that Dr. Sharma founded to support and further develop the product.

Dr. Sharma earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kapur and his M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering and Computer Science from California Institute of Technology. He has authored several journal articles and is the holder of four patents. Dhiraj is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and has chaired numerous sessions.
